The Hunchback of Notre Dame
"The Hunchback of Notre Dame" is a very serious interpretation of Victor Hugo's story. It's quite solemn, more than I've seen in any disney films before. It's about a very ugly, but nice-hearted young boy named Quasimodo (half-formed), and the gipsy girl Esmeralda. There are some very severe tributes to the thinking of that time. The hated gypsies, the hated outlaws, outsiders, and the power of a sometimes very unjustly church. But it's still typically Disney: Great drawing style, great songs, and a firmly message.
In fact, this is the film with the most singing in it, that's a reason why my sister didn't like it so much. Me, I loved the songs.
My favourite character? Definitly: Clopin! He is a gipsy, and earns money with telling little children storys. Actually he's the narrator of the entire film. He has a great voice, and is a wonderful storyteller, along with his little hand-puppet and funny comments.
